Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2: Heather Ellis-Monochromatic

Good morning!  I just wanted to show you how beautiful Colorado is today ... I snapped this on my walk home with the dog.  I thought Pikes Peak looked gorgeous this morning.

How cute is this card?!!  I really love how it turned out!

Pardon me while I pat myself on the back ... I love Heather Ellis images!  This week over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2, we sponsored by the AMAZING Heather Ellis.   Since it's the last Wednesday of the month, our challenge is to use your favorite sketch from the month and the twist is to make your card .... wait for it .... monochromatic.  Heather is offering a generous prize to our winner: 3 free images!  Fun!!

In case you've forgotten the February images ... here they are:

FTH #54

This is the fourth picture I've taken of this card ... I'm giving up.  It's blurry.  We're both going to deal with it today.  Today is my birthday.  I get to post blurry pictures if I want (update: I couldn't leave it alone ... this is picture #5)  Making this card for my nephew whose birthday is just a few days from now ... hey, look at me being all organized!  It's a first for me!!

My beloved is off taking a gun class all day today.  At first I was a bit, well to be honest, cranky about him blowing off my day.  But I've got the whole day to do what I want.  I'm starting to rethink my attitude.  I plan to spend my crafting and then Mr. Blog will come home and take me out for dinner.  Not a bad way to spend a birthday after all!

I'm using the sketch from over at From the Heart.  I loved it.  What a great way to use up all those DP scraps you can't bear to part with.

I am also entering this in Cute Card Thursday's "Button and Bows" theme.

Secret Sister Kit #1

This round, the sistahs and I decided to mix things up a bit.

Instead of just mailing craft supplies (which hoarders like myself tend to stash in a drawer and NEVER use) we decided to make it a rule that a card had to be made with the papers and embellishments.  AND to make it harder, we had to provide words for our sister to follow when preparing the matchy-matchy kit.

My words were: Happy, Sparkle, Pink, Ribbon, and Sassy

My sis gave me the paper, the ribbon (both colors) and the brads (well OK those are from my stash, I thought that her gorgeous pink ones would have blended in too much) and this really cute flower which I didn't use.  Sorry sis, I don't "do" flowers on my cards often.  Overall, I think that my secret sister nailed my words. Thanks for everything, sis.

BTW: I'm using the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 sketch again (rotated a bit) to provide encouragement.  Come on everyone ... we need playahs this week!!

SSW2-07: DigiStamp Boutique

Despite being POST Valentine's Day, I'm going to share two more Valentines that I made for the boys teachers.   Since my boys were giving them ... they had to be "manly" valentines!  We had gone to Hu Hot for dinner (the kids LOVE it since they like when the cooks set fire to the grill and scream out "HU HOT!!"  The cooks did not burn down the restaurant despite giving us several pyroclastic displays but dinner WAS a bit disappointing for the boys since the balloon lady was absent.  Sad.

It was on the way home from our dinner that my little darlings remembered the cookies and valentines boxes that they were supposed to bring to school the next day.  Needless to say the remainder of my evening was a blur of activity!

I used the sketch over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 to make the required Valentines.  This week, Sally has another fun sketch for us.  Her sketch calls for a square but I adapted it to 5x7 cards.   Our sponsor is the wonderful Sally-Ann from DigiStamp Boutique.  Fortunately she has a few images that are PERFECT for giving teachers.

Sally-Ann is generously providing the winner with a £10 voucher to use in her store.  We'd sure love to see your work this week.

Deconstructed Sketch #138

DH is watching Curling on this morning's Olympics.

It's kinda amusing listening to him.  He knows nothing about Curling and was watching the show with the sound off.  So he's asking me all these questions, "How do they score points in Curling?" and "Is that good or bad that it bumped off the pucky-thing?"  You know ... stuff that I'm sure if he had turned the sound on the television, the announcers would be explaining.  And when I pointed that fact out to him, he did actually turn on the the sound.

I used Jen's deconstructed sketch #138.  Fun sketch.

SSW2-06: Pattie's Creations

It's nearly Valentine's Day; are you ready?  I am ... almost.  I've got the cards made and the books purchased.  I just need to run to See's Candy and pick up a few sweet treats to give to the men in my life.  This little cutie is headed to my oldest kiddo.  He will love the "Pongo and Perdita" theme going on here.

It is also time for another Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 challenge.  Sally has challenged us with another fun one.  If you don't have a hexagon, feel free to substitute a circle (like I did).

This week we are sponsored by Pattie's Creations.  I used her "Puppy Love" this week.  She's giving 2 free images to our winner.  Here's a bit more about Pattie:

I am an Internet Technology Professional and an Artist. I always dreamed of being an artist, but I found out quickly that I needed another field to support my family so I pursued a Degree in Information Technology. FTHS 52

It's Monday and I am supposed to be either

    A) cleaning bathrooms
    B) vacuuming
or
    C) cooking dinner

Which is exactly why I am downstairs making cards!  I plan to round out my day of hooky finishing up my secret sister's card kit and then going to get a latte at Starbucks.  Some days were just made for being a bit of a rebel.

I used the sketch from over at From the Heart

DP2 Challenge ... among other things

I started the morning off looking for a computer disc for my youngest and never did find it.  But, I DID find a whole bunch of other stuff that I was kinda excited to find: an extra paper cutter, some stamped images, tape runner and an extra pair of nippers for sewing.  Good stuff!!

Since I found this image, I decided to use it.  I think it's Bronte and Lewis but I'd have to dig through my images to say for certain.  I kind of forgot I had this image.  It kind of tells you how little I use my rubber anymore.  It fits right into Mo's current challenge of "J is for ..." over at DP2.  I've got jumping and joy right here!

I used the sketch from over at jen's deconstructed Sketch challenge and I used the Bingo chart from Wags 'n Whiskers.  I did the top row: pink, die cuts and glitter.  Can you see miniscule amount of glitter that I've used?!!

Enjoy your weekend peeps.  I am.

TMS: 235

Snow days.  Who doesn't love the opportunity to snuggle down and do nothing!

The kids were shocked when I made them finish their homework this morning.  I'm pretty sure that we will have school tomorrow since our temperature is supposed to finally rise above zero.  Our high today is 15!  We are practically having a heat wave!  It took the kids maybe 15 minutes to finish the math pages but I think that they whined about it for at least double that time!

I used MY free time yesterday to join in the fun over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  They have a fun sketch this week.  I printed this Mo image weeks ago and am constantly in need of birthday cards.

Challenges I'm submitting this for:
Tuesday Morning: Sketch
QKR Stampede: Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes

SSW2-05: Bugaboo

I think I am finally getting over watching my Broncos "play" so abysmally in the Super Bowl.  It's one thing to lose, but it's quite another to not even show up to play.  Did you know that we've now set a new record?  Our franchise has amassed the most losses in Super Bowl history!  Outstanding!!  {{Sigh}}

BUT, we DO have something to be happy about ... it's another great sketch to work with over at Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2.  Our sponsor is the phenomenal Jodie from Bugaboo Stamps.  She's offering up her usual fantastic prize of 7 digital images to our winner.  I'm using her "Rock Star Boy." Cute isn't he?  Here's a bit more about Jodie and her store.

Everything that you ever wanted to know about Bugaboo Stamps: As if raising 5 children in the frozen land of the North was not enough of a challenge, Jodie Mackrell decided to dip her cold little Canadian toes into the work of paper-crafting by opening an online store full of her illustrations. Bugaboo Stamps has become one of the leading companies in digital images. From seriously snarky to sugar sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects. Jodie works very hard to provide New Releases and Freebies every week!! If your taste runs to rubber (and you know who you are), you can find Bugaboo Stamps at Totally Stampilicious. And finally, join the Bugaboo Stamps DT for the weekly Challenges at Catch the Bug.

We hope you get a chance to join in the fun this week!

Digi Sketch Challenge/From the Heart

I spent about 20 minutes this morning trying to find a pack of pearls to put on the card and could NOT find it.  Eventually found it ... in the dog's mouth.  Dorky dog!  I swear she is worse than ANY three year old.  So all the pretty sparkles that I planned to add are a bit too soggy to use.  Oh well.

I have fallen in love with these Birdbrains.  In the last two days, I think I've bought four of them.  Step away from the digi-images Joanna!  This is the image that Faith has chosen for her February Stamp of the Month Club over at From the Heart.  Had I participated last month, this little cutie woulda been mine ... for FREE.  Alas, I did not.  Oh well, next month's image is mine!

I used the "green" theme and sketch from Digi Sketch Challenge.  But I rotated it a bit so that the sentiment circle wouldn't cover up that cute bird's tear puddle.

I {heart} Sketches #52

Hey look at me!

It's only February 3rd and I am finished with the Monthly Image challenge!  Boo-ya!  Heather is our hostess this month.  She wanted birthday cards (who doesn't?!!) so I'm sending her this little cutie.  I used the sketch over at I {heart} sketches.

I bought this paper pack over at Michaels and didn't realize how "yellow" it is until now.  I'm thinking about remaking the card in different colors.  I don't think I did the image justice.
